An Interview with Dr. Michael J. Goldberg
I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Michael J. Goldberg who is a well known expert in the field of autism and a pediatrician in private practice in Tarzana, California. Dr. Goldberg is the Director of the non-profit Neuro-Immune Dysfunction Syndromes NIDS Medical Board and Research Institute. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Goldberg is dedicated to increasing the public’s awareness of the likely connection between neuro-immune and/or auto-immune dysfunction and other conditions such as Autism, ADD, Alzheimer’s, ALS, CFS/CFIDS, MS and other immune-related diseases. The NIDS Institute helps to facilitate access to treatment options and research studies for families suffering from these illnesses.
Dr. Goldberg has been successfully treating my son for pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) for the past 12 years and has consented to this interview to pass along this information to all who might benefit. To get a free copy of the audio interview, simply sign up in the box at the right, and you will be sent a link immediately.

Dorothea,
Thank you for putting this interview together! Our daughter Amaya has autism and is being treated by Dr. G. She has made huge progress in less than a year with his protocol.
I’m working on also promoting his approach with other parents at http://www.not-autism.org

My information about treatment autism get completed after reading this very useful and informative post .
Thanks for the info. The interview was very informative!
Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing the story of your son’s journey out of autism and making this interview available. My daughter is a patient treated by a NIDS doctor and she is recovering from moderate autism before my eyes. I am so grateful for the work Dr. Goldberg has done.
I watched the video of your son playing guitar and singing beautifully! WOW. He brought a smile to my face.
Thanks so much for your kind words. I hope to add more content soon! Dorothea
Experts don’t know aren’t sure and are forever baffled by autism. That’s why the definition is jacked up. These professionals don’t know what they heck they are doing. I just saw a video on YOU TUBE titled: “autism spectrum seems out of control” Watch it. It’s good. Another thing: Kids are being diagnosed with aspergers and autism after 15 minute doctor visits. Docs aren’t even asking historical background or running genetic tests or blood tests , allergy tests, urine tests, cat scans, etc…to check out if something else is going on….lots of kids, teens and adults who are lableed autistic, aren’t really autistic. Autism is very serious. Yet, we find people who are mentally ill posing as autistic persons, as in Donna Williams, and Ari Ne’emen, the Obama appointed non autistic person who thinks he’s autistic. Man, this whole autism thing is so blown up right now. It’s all over the place and there is mass confusion because there is so many people claiming this diagnosis when they aren’t really autistic and then we have doctors diagnosing that don’t know what the heck they are doing. And please, the schools? Audits show some schools overdiagnose kids with autism so they can get more funding. Wow. People, you better educate yourselves. Oh, and Jenny Mccarthy? Her son was never autistic. If anyone would stop for a few minutes and analyze her story you’d discover that her child had febrile seizures, regresed, was subsequently treated with anti convulsants and slowly recovered. Meanwhile, she fed him gluten free food. Gluten had nothing to do with it. He had febrile seizures that caused acute developmetal delays. That’s it. And then press grabbed her mislabeled autism version of story and ran with it. Bad journalism.
Yes, I agree…a lot of mass confusion and misdiagnosis going on. I think Dr. Goldberg (who is a researcher in the field and pediatrician as well) has brought a lot of valuable knowledge to the public. Hope you get a chance to listen to his interview.

Just thought i would comment and say neat design, did you code it yourself? Looks fantastic.
Is this just a fake site setup to sell an ebook? Does Dr. Goldberg even know that this is being done, or give permission for you to do so?
Thanks, I did most of it myself. Just a little help on the header!
Dr. Goldberg asked me to do the interview. I am giving away the audio. I am charging a small amount for the transcribed copy (which I paid a lot for) which barely covers my costs of keeping up this website. I did this to help others and get the word out about the wonderful work Dr Goldberg does. What could possibly be fake about it????? I am writing about my son.
Thanks extremely much for your excellent post;this can be the variety of point that keeps me going by way of out these day. I’ve been looking all around for this website right after currently being referred to them from a colleague and was pleased when I discovered it following looking for some time. Getting a avid blogger, I’m cheerful to see others taking initivative and contributing towards the community. I might wish to remark to show my approval to your post since it is quite difficult to try and do, and many bloggers do not get acceptance they deserve. I’m sure I’ll visit once again and will send a few of my close friends.
Thanks so much!
I believe this web site has some really excellent info for everyone : D.
My 9 year old “autistic” son has an appointment with Dr. Goldberg tomorrow. We are very hopeful that he can progress with the proper (diagnostics, treatment, and follow up). I finished reading the book and am confused with diet issues. Dr. Goldberg’s book stresses no dairy but gluten free not necessarily consistent with his thinking (i.e. grains that do not have gluten may also cause allergy concerns). I will ask him tomorrow for a clear understanding of dietary restrictions/allowances. Dorothea if you have ideas for me with regard to diet I would appreciate any help.
Thank you for your efforts with this site. I am certain to visit again. I appreciate all the work that you do in helping other families through their journey. No one can really take perspective and understand what the journey is, unless they have taken it (or are on it), themselves.
Best to you and your family Dorothea.
Is there anyone in Arizona that does Goldberg’s protocal? I have labs from J Rodriguez (SCIA) medical registry on my son; no one seems to have expertise here. Son has PANDAS (autoimmune) dx’d PDD NOS this summer but he is 8. HHV6 IgG is 7.65. I think he can be helped by this but can’t seem to find access to the help he (and we) desp need. Thank you. He has right temp lobe slowness on EEG and poor social skills. This makes sense. WE HAVE to help him!!
I’ve observed that in the world these days, video games will be the latest craze with kids of all ages. There are occassions when it may be impossible to drag your kids away from the games. If you want the best of both worlds, there are many educational games for kids. Interesting post.
