What is Echolalia?
Often times when you ask a child a question, instead of answering the question, they simply repeat what you say. So if you ask, “What is your name?” the response you might get is, “What is your name.” This is common in children with autism and is often outgrown.
Delayed echolalia is when something is repeated at a later time. Favorite commercials and parts from TV shows are some good examples.
